Giving users admin permissions
Hi,

I have just downloaded and installed the community edition for evaluation and the first issue I have encountered is how do you give another user admin rights?

Also, when I checked the Web site at the weekend there was a big banner about V3, but it's gone since. Is V3 still on target and going to happen?

So far I like what I see, although I am not sure the current version (2.1) has all the features I need for an 80-user corporate Intranet but its early days and I'll be happy to write up my findings after a fair evaluation.

All the best.

RE: Giving users admin permissions
Hello,
Thank you for evaluating Precurio.

Precurio uses the Role Based Access Control (RBAC) architecture. To create give a user admin rights, the user has to be a member of a group/role that has been given full privilege to the admin resource.

Please watch this getting started video for a better understanding.
http://www.precurio.com/getting_started.php
(You can skip to 2:20 to get to the roles part)

We are still very much on target for v3, the banner is back up.

Please let me know what features are most important for your corporate intranet.

Thank you

RE: Giving users admin permissions
Thanks for the reply - that makes sense. I might have to watch the video but I generally dislike such presentations where things are shown at someone else's pace and in their order without the ability to dive straight into the parts that are of immediate interest - I prefer screenshots and written howtos.

The most important features (either currently present in Precurio or not) for us are as follows. Ideally, these features would exist in one monolithic package, but it would be fine if we could, say, use Precurio for its own features and have it act as a portal for others (eg: SugarCRM)

Customer contact management (Currently using SugarCRM)
Customer ticket management (as above) - possibly covered by tasks
Customer mailing management (as above)
Shared content/document/file/data management
Personal/Shared calendar
Company news
Employee Directory
Email front end for SMTP/IMAP and Exchange mail services
Resource booking (rooms, equipment...)
Leave request approval
In-house messaging

One thing that would be really great but I have not yet found in any groupware/portal-type app would be a click-button based 'backup my laptop now' feature for mobile staff, using some interface with rsync at the back end.
